• Call for Abstracts: Experience, Reflection, Lanaguage: Phenomenology and the Feldenkrais Method: Sorbonne, Paris, France: September 3-5, 2020

    2019-12-24

A special Feldenkrais Research Symposium dedicated to the theme of Experience, Reflection, Language: Phenomenology and the Feldenkrais Method will be included in the Fourth International Conference on Brain, Body, Cognition, to take place at La Sorbonne University, Paris, France on September 3-5, 2020. (https://www.movementis.com/)

The aim of the conference is to share knowledge on the relation of human movement to cognitive function and to establish dialogue between professionals from different disciplines. The special Feldenkrais Symposium provides an opportunity for researchers of the Feldenkrais Method to share ideas, and to engage with scientists and practitioners from other somatic modalities. The theme of this year’s Feldenkrais Research Symposium, “Experience, Reflection, Language” speaks to the parallel between the development of the Feldenkrais Method and phenomenology, especially in relation to the work of French phenomenologist, Maurice Merleau-Ponty. Abstracts may refer to any subject relating to research, including research methodologies, theoretical perspectives and case studies. Abstracts relating to the relation between the Feldenkrais Method and phenomenology, as well as Moshe Feldenkrais’ formative period of life in Paris during the 1930s will be especially welcome. The Symposium will include a chair, up to four presenters, and a discussant (optional). The Symposium is scheduled in an 80-minute time slot and should allow for discussion among presenters and the audience.
